In Search of Beta Readers for My Works in Progress

Writers talk a lot about process. Over the years, I feel like I’ve read 100 books, give or take, on process. Because I’ve always been a writer with a day job, I’m skeptical of writing processes because the writing happens outside of any kind of system. Usually in the 20 to 30 minutes I can wean myself from Twitter so that I can work on revision or write a few longhand pages of a work in progress.

It’s what I can fit in before or after meditation. Writing is my joy and love, so I always do it. It’s not even a labor of love, which sounds too much like work. It’s just my love of love. My romanticism on full display in the way that I chase after these characters and their lives.

So, all that said, I’d love your help. I’m looking for a few good beta readers. These are people who like my work or have read it and enjoyed it who are also not related to me or my good friends. That might make you the perfect candidate. Basically, I’m looking for someone who is willing to offer constructive feedback – to say what they like, what needs work, what feels great in the work and what’s not as great.

I have a few works in progress that are at various stages of completion. I need feedback to get these works in the best shape possible before I publish or query agents/publishers. If you’re willing to read and provide feedback for novellas, short stories, novels or essays, I’ll reward you with undying loyalty, a shout out in the published version of the book and a free signed copy. If that sounds good to you, could you please fill out this short form to tell me how to contact you? It was fixed with the kind attention of a new beta reader, even!
